In doing my absolute best not to pepper this story with train puns, it’s impossible for me not to say that we are all aboard ‘SOUND TRACKS’, an upcoming weekend of music, arts, and community spirit brought to you by the legendary team at OK Motels.
Departing Melbourne’s Southen Cross Station on Friday 6 October, a restored steam locomotive (operated by 707 Operations) will venture toward the northeast Victorian town of Charlton. SOUND TRACKS will run from Friday 6 October to Sunday 8 October and will feature performances from Harvey Sutherland, Glass Beams, Juno Mamba, Maple Glider (solo) and more.
Thirteen carriages will ferry music lovers to Charlton behind the steam locomotive. On board, you can expect cocktails and canapes, and make friends in the ‘Dancefloor Carriage. The train will stop at Geelong, Ballarat, and Maryborough before reaching its final destination of Charlton where passengers will disembark for a Welcome to Country and a BBQ breakfast put on by the locals.
“Incredible music, stunning scenery, a steam train, great food and wine – it all adds up to a one-of-a-kind experience that will invite travellers to see our regions in a whole new light. We’re backing SOUND TRACKS as part of our work to strengthen and support the state’s music industry and our commitment to supporting recovery in flood-impacted communities.” said Minister for Creative Industries, Steve Dimopoulous. Creative Victoria and Music Victoria are both supporting SOUND TRACKS.
