The Sorrento Writers Festival is back for its second iteration, promising an even grander experience for bookworms and literature enthusiasts.
The festival, which runs from April 25th to 28th, coincides with the Anzac Day long weekend, offering attendees a chance to combine a literary pilgrimage with a relaxing getaway on the Mornington Peninsula.
This year’s festival boasts a wider program with over 134 events spread across 10 venues in Sorrento and Portsea. The “iconic Continental Sorrento“ will be the main hub, but festival goers can also expect talks and workshops at venues like the Sorrento Portsea RSL and the Sorrento Sailing Couta Boat Club.
The star-studded speaker list includes a veritable who’s who of Australian literature. Miles Franklin Award winners Alex Miller, Anna Funder, and Amanda Lohrey will be gracing the stage alongside award-winning authors like Kate Grenville, David Marr, and Magda Szubanski.
For those interested in current affairs and social issues, there will be talks by respected commentators and journalists like Nick McKenzie, Hedley Thomas, Laura Tingle, and John Silvester. Internationally renowned bioethicist Peter Singer will also be offering his insights.
With tickets selling fast, festival organizers are encouraging attendees to plan their schedules early. The full program can be found on the Sorrento Writers Festival website.
