Regional Victoria Will Come Out Of Lockdown On September 9th

In news that will be extremely welcome, Premier Daniel Andrews has announced that regional Victoria will emerge from lockdown at 11:59pm on Thursday 9th September. All of regional Victoria that is, except for Shepparton which is still in the grips of a serious outbreak.

Authorise worker lists will no longer apply in regional Victoria which means that the majority of businesses and venues can reopen with capacity and density limits that applied before this lockdown,

“While this is fantastic news for most of regional Victoria, we’re encouraging everyone in these areas to keep up all the COVIDSafe practices and most importantly, keep coming forward to get vaccinated.”

Regional schools will reopen for onsite learning for prep to grade 2, as well as year 12 students that live in regional Victoria. Funerals will be permitted for up to 20 people, and weddings will be permitted for up to 10 people plus those conducting the service.

Restaurants and cafes can reopen for seated service with caps on the number of people able to enter a business. Retail, hairdressers, entertainment venues, and community facilities will also reopen.

Masks will still have to be worn both indoors and outdoors, however.
