The first section of the new Snowies Alpine Walk in Kosciuszko National Park is open. Situated in Monero Ngarigo Country, the entire hiking trail will be a 55km, 4-day adventure across the alpine area and connecting the resorts of Guthega, Charlotte Pass, Perisher, and Lake Crackenback. The entire project is expected to be completed in late 2023.
The first section of the project is now open, a 9km trail that heads through the plains and across what is the highest elevated suspension bridge in Australia (1640m above sea level) over Spencers Creek.

The opening of the second stage of the Snowies Alpine Walk between Guthega and Charlotte Pass was opened in June by the NSW Deputy Premier, Paul O’Toole and Minister for Environment, James Griffin.
“The Opening of this section of the walk marks the completion of the second of four stages, and I’m thrillist to see increased access to this beautiful part of the world,” said Griffin.
Stage three involves the completion of a 9.8km section of track from Charlotte Pass village to Porcupine Rocks, before going onto Perisher where you’ll catch views of the Thredbo Valley, Bullocks Flat, and the Main Range.
The fourth, and final stage will see a trail run from Perisher to Bullocks Flat, and started construction in January 2022.
