Mountain Culture, the independent Blue Mountain’s brewery, has been crowned the ‘Best Brewery Venue’ in New South Wales, according to a national survey conducted by Beer Cartel with over 14,000 participants. Mountain Culture’s Katoomba location secured the top spot, making history as one of the best breweries in the state.
Harriet McCready, Co-Founder of Mountain Culture, expressed her gratitude, saying, “We’re honoured to be voted as New South Wales’ Best Brewery Venue. We wanted to create a welcoming space for people to come after exploring the outdoors and have a really good beer with their mates. To take out this accolade feels like we must be on the right track.”

Mountain Culture, founded in 2019 by husband and wife duo DJ and Harriet McCready, has experienced rapid growth in just three years. In January, they claimed the top spot in the GABS Hottest 100 Craft Beer Countdown, as voted by over 60,000 Australians. With unrelenting demand, their production capacity has increased from 60,000 litres per year to up to eight million litres with the addition of their new world-class production facility in Emu Plains. This places them in the top two percent of independent beer producers in Australia.
“Our original Brewpub in Katoomba holds a very special place in our hearts. It took a lot of work to turn a derelict heritage building into a brewpub, and we’re so honoured it’s been recognized as the top place in NSW,” added Harriet.
Mountain Culture’s success can be attributed to its unmatched drinking experience and unique brewing processes. They import unique yeast strains, use limited-release hops, unmodified grain, and control the pH of the water, processes uncommon outside of the world’s most serious breweries. In addition to their core range of beers, Mountain Culture’s constant stream of limited releases, numbering more than 250 to date, allows their team to constantly refine their technical prowess and push the boundaries of beer.
