Everything Old Is New Again At The Kyneton Lost Trades Fair

Manual labour isn’t for everyone. And as we’ve further and further away from the industry that laid the foundation for cities around Australia, we’ve lost touch with trades that many made a living out of.

The Kyneton Lost Trades Fair is on once again this March, back with hundreds of crafty tradies to help shine a light on the trades of old.

In attendance you’ll find cricket bat makers, jewellers, basket weavers, chair makers, boot makers, coopers, and even armourers.

A definite highlight will be checking out sixth-generation cooper George Smithwick of Benalla. Whose family made barrels for the Abbotsford Brewing Company which kept many a Victorian’s thirst quenched before Carlton & United Breweries came together.

Kyneton Lost Trades Fair happens on March 9 and 10 at Kyneton Racecourse.
