On the back roads of Dromana, amidst acreages and farmland sits Torello, a farm gate, produce shop and grocer all rolled into one.
Established back in 2017 by long-time grocers, farmers markets and produce advocates Sophie and partner Mark Brancatisano. The shop has steadily built its reputation and loyal customer base by serving the highest quality of fruit, vegetable, dairy and meat all-grown, gathered and sourced on the Mornington Peninsula.
Jutting out on an intersection on Whitehill Road, the farm was purchased by the pair initially in 2016 and began farming straight away.

What started as a farm has flourished into a culinary and community centre for the Peninsula, on any given day the small yet rustically converted shed laden with sunflower yellow umbrellas, and raw wooden pallets stuffed full of pumpkins out front teems with customers.
It’s awash with people picking up supplies, from keen home cooks to some serious culinary talent, it’s a go-to source for ingredients for some of the most awarded restaurants in the area.
“I think that Torello champions the locally grown produce, we’re not just looking at doing supermarket lines, I think the charm is that the shop kinda looks like a farmers market,” says co-owner Sophie O Neil
A co-op of sorts the farm shop is mainly supplied by Torello’s own farm and is bolstered by growers all across the region, sourcing bespoke and unique strains of produce from the famed Daniel’s Run Heirloom Tomatoes in the summer period to pine mushrooms during the cooler months.

“Torello works because a lot of these farmers don’t have outlets to sell their produce, they’re not able to supply a supermarket chain, in a given year we typically have around 80 suppliers and some of them might be tiny,” says Sophie.
The inside shelves are lined with condiments, preserves and sauces of all kinds all made in-house from bread and butter zucchini pickles to gin and lime marmalade and more. Lining the other side of the shop is the fridge section which neatly displays a plethora of dairy, cheese, homemade pies and pre-made meals that are made in-house as well as the full selection of Torello’s award-winning beef and lamb.

Grazed and grown just up the road on the family’s farm in Tuerong, the Torello beef and lamb are slow-growing heritage breeds, there’s a full-use ethos when it comes to butchery with cuts of note from eye fillet and porterhouse sitting next to more underrated and affordable sections like scotch neck, merlot, and flank.
The shop also stocks freshly baked bread from both nearby bakery outlets, Miller’s Bread and Tuerong Bread who also stock their very own flour on the shelves.
