Peter Lehmann Wines Unveils Innovative BAROSSAN X Range

Peter Lehmann Wines, a stalwart of the Barossa Valley wine scene, has just launched a groundbreaking new range: BAROSSAN X. This collection aims to redefine the classic Barossa Valley Shiraz by offering three innovative twists on the well-loved varietal, challenging conventional norms and giving wine enthusiasts a fresh take on a global favourite.

The BAROSSAN X range pushes the boundaries of traditional winemaking while honouring the rich heritage of the Barossa region. Each wine in the series captures the essence of Barossa Shiraz, infused with the dynamic character of alternative varietals.

“Peter Lehmann believed rules existed to be bent, broken, blended, and amended,” said Alfred Loo, Senior Brand Manager at Peter Lehmann Wines. “With this range, we aim to rewrite the rules of traditional Barossa Shiraz, introducing three exceptional varietals that showcase the diversity and vibrance of our vineyards.”

The Three Varietals of BAROSSAN X

  • BAROSSAN X Twisted Shiraz: This blend combines Shiraz with a twist of Tempranillo, resulting in a medium-intensity ruby-red wine with a bright crimson hue. Aromas of lifted red cherry and Turkish delight, complemented by ripe dried fig notes from the Tempranillo, define the bouquet. The medium-bodied palate features a bright textural mid-palate and a vibrant finish with lightly toasted cedar oak notes and savoury dried fruits.
  • BAROSSAN X Daring Shiraz: Shiraz is blended with Montepulciano to create a medium-intensity ruby-red wine with bright garnet hues. The nose is rich with blueberry, plum, and dark fruit aromas, intertwined with violet and spice from the Montepulciano. This full-bodied wine has a textural mid-palate dominated by bright red and dark fruits, chocolate, and cedar oak, leading to a satisfying, long finish of juicy fruit and full palate tannin.
  • BAROSSAN X Radical Shiraz: Featuring a splash of Touriga, this medium-intensity ruby-red wine has a bright purple hue. Aromas of lifted red plum and blackberry are complemented by sour cherry and dried thyme notes from the Touriga. The medium-bodied palate is vibrant with a bright textural mid-palate and a firm grip, reminiscent of the varietal’s Italian roots, finishing with lightly toasted cedar oak notes and savoury dried fruits.

Each varietal has been expertly crafted by winemaker Lauren Hutton. “We are thrilled to release this new range as a celebration of innovation and creativity in winemaking,” Hutton said. “Barossan X embodies our commitment to innovation while staying true to the unparalleled quality that defines Peter Lehmann Wines.”

The BAROSSAN X range is now available at BWS and Dan Murphy’s for $23.00 RRP.
