Kryal Castle, the iconic medieval theme park located just 15 minutes from Ballarat, is set to become home to a brand-new BIG4 Holiday Park, offering visitors an expanded range of accommodation options. The BIG4 Kryal Castle Holiday Park, which officially opens on Friday 7th April, is the closest Ballarat-based BIG4 caravan park to Melbourne and will include 57 powered campsites, 16 one-bedroom cabins, and four two-story luxury loft tiny homes.
Each of the tiny homes can accommodate up to four people and offers modern furnishings, a grand open feel, and stunning views overlooking the Ballarat cityscape. Families will also have access to a games room with Xbox consoles and bean bags, a playground for the kids, and a lounge-style deck. Even pooches big and small are welcome to stay at the holiday park.

For the first month of opening, guests will receive 50% off entry to the theme park, which offers a range of medieval-themed attractions including jousting tournaments, archery, Knight School, and magical potions. Kryal Castle CEO Bart Hamilton said, “We are really excited to open the holiday park and hope that its unique location will help to draw in more visitors to experience Kryal Castle, while also increasing the accommodation offering in Ballarat and hopefully encouraging visitors to enjoy all the region has to offer.”
The holiday park is part of a $5.6 million initial development privately funded by Kryal Castle, with the option to develop a further 119 sites on the eastern side of the castle grounds available for future expansions. The holiday park’s opening in April comes at the perfect time, with a plethora of events hosted at Kryal Castle, including the Unicorn Festival from 7th-21st April and Smashing Pumpkins The World Is A Vampire Tour on Sunday 3rd of April.
